So. Back in like 1990, I wanted to pierce my nose.
I had done all of my ear piercings, all like 10 or 11 of them. I had never gone anywhere to get a piercing done. I actually enjoyed doing them all by myself.
I tried piercing my own nose, and that was a lot more difficult than I imagined it would be…
I had a really hard time getting it through. And it was painful! More so than an ear piercing.
I heard you could stick a carrot up your nose to help.
We had no carrots.
But, we did have potatoes!
I sliced up a potato and shoved a chunk up my nose.
I still just couldn’t get it.
My brother helped me out, and eventually, we got it!
A couple of weeks later, I began a management position for a video store.
Of course, that meant, I would have to take out my nose earring while working.
Low and behold, that very first time, the hole closed and I could not for the life of me get an earring back in after that first shift.
I still have scar tissue there.
And still, regret that I had to let that go for the job.
These days, it isn’t as awful to have a nose piercing. I also work online primarily, so I have no worries about a job that will not accept a face piercing. Of course, that was until about a week ago when I realized that I will be unemployed throughout the month of December…
Regardless, sometime in November, or maybe even October, I bought a one-use, self nose piercing thing. I was determined to pierce my own nose yet again.
It sat for at least a month before I decided it was time.
One night last week, I attempted to do it myself. It was hard. I couldn’t tell if I had it in the right place. I also could only get it about halfway through before I chickened out…
Today, I spent the day helping my mom clean. I knew both of my sisters would be there. I took along the single-shot piercing thing, hoping I could convince one of them to pierce my nose.
Both said no.
My younger sister ran out of time, but she also said she wouldn’t want to do it anyway LOL.
My other sister said “Oh hell no.” But, she’s also the one that damn near passed out when I was in the ER and they had to try about 20 times to get a vein to draw blood.
But, her daughter came home…
I had actually texted her to see where she had her nose pierced and how much it cost. The cost was a huge factor for me at the moment as I will be unemployed Dec - Jan sometime. She told me where she had hers done and said it was $25, which isn’t bad, but it was still $25 that I really didn’t want to spend on myself in such a financial situation. Especially, when I’d already spent $5 on this single-use piercing thing!
So, when she got home, I said “well, you want to pierce my nose right??” And she said “maybe I could.” which I took in the most positive sense.
I let her eat her dinner, and then I insisted. LOL. She was pretty willing though in all honesty. Thank God!
So, I alcoholed everything up.
She did a great job!! The first time she got it all the way through, but the stud didn’t come out of the gun thing.
I bled. We laughed.
She tried again, and same thing, it got stuck and it wasn’t going to come out, so I pushed the hell out of it, and it finally clicked and bent the stud and came out!! Whew!!
God, I love her. She was awesome! And I have a pretty nose!!
